What is the Parent Portal?
The myPolkSchools.net Parent Portal is a new on-line service offered to parents and guardians in Polk County. The service will bring together into one single web page information about ALL of the students for a particular parent. Instead of visiting several different websites, making telephone calls or visiting the school to access records or information, the parent may access them all from any Internet-connected computer. The most important goal of the Parent Portal is to enhance district-to-school-to-home communication as outlined in the Polk County Schools Strategic Plan item 7(1): “Establish an effective system of communication linking district, school and home.”

School Advisory Council
School Advisory Councils (SACs) were created by the Florida Legislature to assure continuous progress of Florida’s education goals in each school. The purpose of the council is to work collaboratively with the principal and staff to develop, monitor and evaluate results of the School Improvement Plan. The SAC shall assist in preparing the school’s annual budget, as well as Lottery and Technology funds budgets. The SAC must operate within the policies of the School Board and the parameters established by the state legislature.
Council membership reflects the ethnic, racial and economic community served by the school. A majority of the members of each SAC must be persons who are not employed by the school. Teachers, support staff and parents are elected to the Council. Community members are appointed by the principal. Meetings are held at 9:00 first Tuesday of each month.
